SALINA, NY – According to Syracuse.com, a crash involving two vehicles and a power pole left two people injured in Salina on Saturday afternoon.
Officials say the accident took place just after 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, at the intersection of East Molloy Road and Townline Road. A 59-year-old male Subaru driver was travelling west on East Molloy Road and drove through a red light at the Townline Road intersection. As he sped through the intersection, his vehicle crashed into a Honda sedan, driven by a 19-year-old woman. The impact with the Honda caused the Subaru to collide with a nearby power pole before stopping.
First responders on the scene say the driver of the Subaru was trapped inside his vehicle and had to be extracted from the car. The 19-year-old driver of the Honda sustained serious injuries in the impact, and was transported to Upstate University Hospital for treatment.
Police issued the driver of the Subaru a traffic ticket for driving through a red light. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
