Police arrest driver who fatally struck motorcyclist on Long Island

NASSAU CO., NY – Police arrested a man they say fatally struck a motorcyclist while drunk and then attempted to flee the scene with the bike lodged in the hood of his car, the New York Post reports.

They allege that Jordan Solomon, a 30-year-old resident of Queens, collided with a blue motorcycle on the Jericho Turnpike at about 11:45 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15. He attempted to drive off with the bike embedded in the front of his Kia sedan, but it broke down near the exit to the Long Island Expressway.

The motorcyclist died at the scene. He has been identified only as a 29-year-old man, pending family notification.

Solomon faces charges of driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a fatal accident, vehicular manslaughter, and assault. He was arraigned in Hempstead on Wednesday.
