GUILDERLAND, NY – An elderly man was killed and another person was hospitalized following a head-on collision on the Western Turnpike on Tuesday.
According to WRGB, the crash took place at about 6:39 a.m. when a vehicle heading west on the freeway crossed into the eastbound lanes near Fuller Station Road and slammed head-on into another vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle that was hit, 88-year-old Charles J. Renus Jr., was transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
The unidentified driver of the striking vehicle was also taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries.
It is unclear at this time if any charges will be filed in connection to the deadly wreck.
