Narrative
SULLIVAN, NY – A head-on collision near Sullivan early Wednesday killed a child and left three others injured.
State police say the collision took place at about 6:30 a.m. on NY-31 when 53-year-old Abdirashid Noor attempted to pass vehicles in the oncoming lanes of the roadway near Smithridge Rd. Noor’s SUV then slammed head-on into another SUV driven by 29-year-old Jordan King.
A 9-year-old passenger in King’s vehicle suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
Both drivers and an unidentified passenger in Noor’s vehicle were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators are working to establish an official cause of the crash at this time. It is unclear if any charges will be filed.
