Narrative
NEW YORK, NY – Dozens of people were hurt when two busses collided in Gramercy Park on Thursday night.
A call reporting a “major vehicle accident” involving a double-decker tour bus and an MTA bus at the intersection of First Avenue and 23rd Street was received just before 7 p.m.
Both buses involved in the collision were reportedly carrying a full load of passengers at the time of the incident. Deputy Chief Hopper described the injuries as cuts, bruises, scrapes, suspected fractures, as well as head and neck injuries.
Of the individuals involved, 36 were transported to local hospitals for further treatment, while 35 received immediate medical attention at the scene. Firefighters assured the public that none of the injuries were considered life-threatening.
