HYDE PARK, NY – Eight people were hospitalized following a multi-vehicle crash along Route 9 in Hyde Park on Monday night.

The incident happened around 1:58 p.m. on Route 9, or Albany Post Road, near Education Lane, which is just southeast of Mills Norrie State Park.

Police have not shared many details regarding the accident. They say that three vehicles were involved and that one person became entrapped in their vehicle. Crews worked to extricate that patient, who was then transported to the hospital along with seven other people involved in the crash.

There’s no word yet on the severity of the victims’ injuries, nor do we know what caused the collision.

Officials closed Route 9 in the area of the crash for over five hours while crews investigated and worked to clear the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
