Narrative
BROOKLYN, NY – A 19-year-old pedestrian and a 32-year-old cyclist went to the hospital after a vehicle struck them at a Brooklyn intersection Sunday.
The accident occurred just before midnight at Halsey Street and Tompkins Avenue, which is at the northeast corner of Potomoc Playground.
Police say that an alleged DUI driver in a BMW struck the pedestrian and cyclist when the vehicle crashed over a curb and onto the sidewalk.
The pedestrian was seriously hurt, while the cyclist sustained a shoulder injury.
Authorities detained the driver, who will likely face charges for speeding and driving under the influence.
A full investigation is underway.
