Narrative
BRONX, NY – A moped driver died on Monday after three vehicles struck him along the expressway in the West Bronx.
The incident happened in the evening along the Cross Bronx Expressway near Webster Avenue, which is just west of the Bronx Zoo.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a minivan struck the moped along the Cross Bronx Expressway, at which point the moped rider fell from the overpass and landed near the intersection of Webster Avenue and East 175th Street. Two additional vehicles, an 18-wheeler and a red sedan, then struck the victim before fleeing the scene.
Police say the driver of the minivan remained at the scene of the accident.
The investigation is ongoing.
