Narrative
OGDENSBURG, NY – A 21-year-old died, and a 19-year-old was critically hurt when a pickup struck their Amish buggy on the highway in western St. Lawrence County.
The incident happened just after 7 a.m. on Monday, December 11th, on State Highway 12 in Ogdensburg.
The investigation indicates that a southbound Dodge pickup truck rear-ended the southbound buggy on the highway. The driver of the pickup, identified as 33-year-old Carl Zanker, says he did not see the buggy.
Authorities have identified the deceased victim in the crash as Abraham Shetler.
The injured passenger in the buggy has been identified as Joseph Yoder.
The investigation is ongoing.
