Narrative
BROOKLYN, NY – One man died, and three others went to the hospital after a two-vehicle hit-and-run collision in the Bushwick area of Brooklyn.
The crash occurred around 12:50 a.m. near the intersection of Irving Avenue and Stockholm Street, which is just southeast of Maria Hernandez Park.
Police say that a southbound Kia Sportage struck a white Toyota Yaris while the latter vehicle was headed east on Stockholm. The collision pushed the Toyota into three parked vehicles.
A back-seat passenger in the Toyota died after transport to a local hospital, and two additional male passengers were hospitalized. The front-seat passenger sustained serious injuries. Authorities have not yet identified the deceased male passenger.
The driver and passengers in the Kia fled the scene on foot, and authorities have not yet apprehended them.
Police arrested the 26-year-old driver of the Toyota, identified as Jorge Sanchezde Lozada Haiek, on a charge of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
The investigation is ongoing.
