BABYLON, NY – A 19-year-old male and an 18-year-old female died Sunday morning in Long Island after a two-vehicle crash along the Southern State Parkway.
The collision occurred around 5:40 a.m. on the westbound side near exit 35, which is in West Babylon, just north of Farmingdale Road.
The investigation indicates that a westbound Infiniti Q50 struck the rear of a Jeep Compass before leaving the roadway and crashing into a tree.
Both the driver and passenger in the Infiniti died at the scene. Authorities identified them as Jevon Lyken and Debarpita Dey.
The force of the crash caused the Jeep to collided with a concrete barrier on the Southern State Parkway. The driver went to the hospital with non-critical injuries.
