Narrative
NEW YORK, NY – Two people went to the hospital Wednesday after a collision involving a BMW SUV and a mini-truck near Columbia University.
Emergency teams responded to the crash around noon in the area of West 114th Street and Broadway, which is just west of Butler Library.
The investigation indicates that the SUV caused the accident by hitting the mini-truck, at which point both vehicles travelled onto the sidewalk.
Medics transported two people from the mini-truck to a Mount Sinai with non-critical injuries.
A witness at the scene says that the SUV driver attempted to flee the scene on foot but was taken into custody by police.
A full investigation is underway.
