Narrative
WOODBURY, NY – Two people died last Friday in a hit-and-run crash involving three vehicles along the highway in northeast Nassau County.
The incident happened around 10:01 p.m. along Route 6 in the town of Woodbury. This is near Harriman State Park.
Police say they tried to stop a white 2019 Infiniti for speeding but that the vehicle evaded them and crashed into the rear of another vehicle along Route 6. The collision caused the second vehicle to collide head-on with a third vehicle.
The two occupants of the Infiniti fled on foot. No arrests have been in connection to the crash thus far.
Two people from the second vehicle died in the accident, and a 10-year-old child sustained critical injuries. Authorities identified the victims as Hafiz and Shathe Ahmed.
The third driver sustained non-critical injuries.
