Narrative
BROOKLYN, NY – A dump truck struck and killed a 58-year-old female pedestrian at a Brooklyn intersection on Thursday.
The incident happened around 6 a.m. at the intersection of Tilden Avenue and Bedford Avenue, which is south of NY-27 and east of Flatbush Avenue.
According to police, the woman was crossing in a designated crosswalk when a southbound 2014 Kenworth dump truck hit her.
The dump truck driver left the scene immediately following the accident. Police say the driver may have made an illegal turn just before hitting the pedestrian.
Authorities identified the victim as Maria Piovanetti.
