SHERBURNE, NY – A 26-year-old man died overnight Sunday in a motorcycle crash along a state highway in northeast Chenago County.
The incident happened around 12:24 a.m. on the southbound side of NY-12B in the city of Sherburne.
Police say that for unknown reasons, a motorcyclist lost control of his bike, left the highway, and crashed into a sign. The force of the collision threw him from the motorcycle, and he died at the scene.
Authorities identified the victim as Derek P. Leinbach. It is unclear if Leinbach was wearing a safety helmet at the time of the accident.
