Narrative
FABIUS, NY – A 59-year-old motorcyclist died Wednesday after a two-vehicle collision in southeastern Onondaga County.
The incident happened around 9:17 p.m. at NY-80, or Main Street, and Ridge Road, which is just north of the high school in the city of Fabius.
Police say the 59-year-old driver of a 2017 Harley Davidson struck the side of a 2020 Ford Escape as both vehicles were headed eastbound on NY-80, and the latter vehicle was turning left on Ridge Road. The motorcyclist was attempting to pass the SUV at the time of the crash.
The force of the collision threw the biker from his motorcycle, and he died after transport to the hospital. Authorities identified the victim as Daniel T. Ankers.
The other driver sustained minor injuries.
A full investigation is underway.
