Narrative
NEW YORK, NY – Three people died seven were hurt Thursday when an alleged drunk driver struck them at a public park in New York City.
The incident occurred at 8:53 p.m. at Corlears Hook Park near the intersection of Water Street and Jackson Street. This is in the Lower East Side.
Police say that 44-year-old Daniel Hyden was intoxicated when he ignored a stop sign on Water Street and drove his Ford F-150 into a group of people in Corlears Hook Park.
Four people became trapped under the Ford, and three people died. Authorities identified two of the victims as Lucille Pinkney, 59, and Herman Pinkney, 38.
Seven people went to the hospital; one of them was listed as critical.
Hyden faces multiple charges, including DUI, aggravated vehicular homicide, and causing serious injury with a weapon.
The investigation is ongoing.
