Narrative
BROOKLYN, NY – An alleged intoxicated driver struck and fatally injured a 68-year-old pedestrian at a busy Brooklyn intersection late last month.
The incident happened on Wednesday, January 31st, around 6:50 p.m. at the intersection of Glenwood Road and East 105th Street, which is just northeast of MTA Rockaway Parkway – Canarsie Yard.
Police say a 2017 Dodge Caravan driven by 47-year-old Gary Turner struck the pedestrian as he attempted to cross Glenwood Road.
Medics transported the pedestrian, identified as Louis Garcia, to the hospital. He died soon after.
Authorities arrested Turner on multiple charges, including DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
