WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, NEW YORK, NY – A driver was taken into custody following a high-speed crash involving a stolen car in Washington Heights on Sunday evening.
The collision occurred just before 7 p.m. on Sunday at the intersection of 181 Street and Fort Washington Avenue.
According to police, officers were in pursuit of a stolen black Mercedes when the driver of the Mercedes crashed into the SUV, causing it to overturn and come to rest on its roof.
Details regarding any injuries sustained in the crash are not mentioned in the report. However, two children, aged one and five, were among the occupants of the SUV.
The driver of the stolen car was arrested at the scene. Their identity is being withheld at this time.
