NEW YORK, NY – A woman was fatally struck by an MTA bus while crossing the street near Union Square on Wednesday afternoon.
Police say the victim was crossing Broadway near East 13th Street at about 1 p.m. when she was hit by the bus that was bound for Staten Island.
Witnesses report the victim, an unidentified 70-year-old woman, was dragged several feet before the bus came to a stop. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe the woman was crossing outside of a designated crosswalk when the incident took place.
