Narrative
GOSHEN, NY – A 32-year-old man died Wednesday in a wrong-way crash involving a semi-truck along the highway in Goshen.
The accident happened around 10 p.m. on the westbound side of NY-17, just past the Phillipsburg overpass. This is southeast of West Hills Country Club.
Police say that 2008 Ford F150 entered the wrong side of the highway and collided head-on with a 2020 International tractor-trailer. Both vehicles ignited.
The driver of the Ford, identified as Amiel Maerling, died at the scene.
Medics transported the truck driver to the hospital with serious injuries.
A full investigation is underway to determine what might have caused the driver of the Ford to enter the wrong side of NY-17.
